1 John 2:5-6

... but whoever keeps Him word in him truly the love of God is perfected. By this we may be sure that we are in Him: whoever says he abides in Him ought to walk the same way in which He walked.

How do you know how to walk as He walked?

Memorizing Scripture

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him and without Him was not anything made that was made. In Him was life and the life was the light of man. The light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it. John 1: 1-4

Objective: memorize this passage.

When I can't grasp the meaning of a passage I memorize the Scripture and wait for the meaning to be revealed later. The Scripture says that when the Word of God dwells richly in your heart, the Spirit leads us to the truth. I can see that according to these verses, Jesus' timeline is before His existence on earth, since the beginning- as He  was 100% involved in the creation.

It didn't take long to memorize the Scripture. I said the first two verses several times and then the second two verses several times. Then I tried to say them without looking but checked what I missed so I’d remember next time.

I know the words. He is the Word, He is God. Now that I have it in my head I want to know it with all my heart. As I read the gospel of John I think that the meaning of these words will gradually become clear.

I already found one promise in these verses: In Him is the life and the life is the light of man.
